On Friday, local production group SMKA started off its summer concert series with a bang for sure. In the first of three free concerts, SMKA brought big name and local hip-hop artists together for a concert that felt more like a party among close friends. Local artists Aleon Craft, Jarren Benton and Grip Plyaz shared the stage with big name but still very much local artists Playboy Tre and Killer Mike. The concert at the Nest, a newly opened bar in Decatur, had the feel of underground concerts of the past and those who attended certainly felt like they were more a part of the music than ever before.
