The Wall Crawlers

Rock Club, a climbing gym located near the Candler Park MARTA station, becomes a different kind of “hang-out” when it hosts the multimedia arts event Lumina City 2.0 on March 30.

The arts collaborative subMedia has organized two prior Lumina City events to showcase Atlanta’s underground arts scene. The newest, described as “an exploration of art and video inspired by the Earth,” will feature contributions from a variety of Atlanta musicians, filmmakers, DJs, photographers and dancers including PoP Films, Flashbang, Kevin O and Visionary Lighting. The gallery-style art show begins around 8 p.m., with films screened at 10 p.m., followed by a dance performance by Zoetic Dance Ensemble.

The ensemble, which has collaborated with subMedia on several combined dance and video presentations, will make use of the climbing wall, although Franklin Lopez of subMedia points out that for the evening, “Because alcohol will be available and because of liability, the climbing facilities will only be used by Zoetic.”

Lumina City 2.0 will be held March 30 at 7 p.m. at The Wall Crawlers Rock Club, 1522 DeKalb Ave. $10. 404-371-8977. ??
