Fiction Issue - The Judges: Joe Davich

Joe Davich, assistant at the Georgia Center for the Book, is a proud alumnus of West Virginia University, where he studied Spanish and literature and did his post-graduate work in advertising at the Perley Isaac Reed School of Journalism. He taught Spanish, English and advertising at Notre Dame High School in Clarksburg, W.Va.

From 1993-2004, Davich promoted local authors and sales through visual marketing for Borders Group Inc. Upon his move to Atlanta in 2004, he began work at Chapter 11 Bookstores.

A Georgia Center for the Book staffer since 2005, he coordinates author readings and book signings throughout the metro area as well as the state, facilitates the Letters About Literature and River of Words writing and art competitions for Georgia students, and helps to train volunteers for the Decatur Book Festival.

His work at the Georgia Center for the Book promotes literacy, preserves Georgia’s literary heritage, and supports and highlights libraries, the greatest asset in building a literate and literary community, he says.
