POP-UPS UNITE: Chefs Parnass Savang (left) and Rod Lassiter of Talat Market will team up with fellow Gato alumni to celebrate five years of fleeting dining concepts.

Nick Stinson’s no-frills Candler Park breakfast spot, Gato, has been quietly hosting some of the city’s best pop-up dining concepts for five years now. It all began with chef Allen Suh’s ramen phenomenon, Gato Arigato, back in 2012. Next came James Beard semifinalist Jarrett Stieber’s comedy-laden Eat Me Speak Me, which has since moved to S.O.S. Tiki Bar in Decatur. Now, the crowds line up every weekend for Parnass Savang (CL’s Best New Chef 2017) and Rod Lassiter’s Georgian-Thai pop-up, Talat Market.

And next month, all five of these dudes will team up for the pop-up to end all pop-ups. Gato’s silver anniversary dinner will feature nine courses and cocktail pairings from mixologist Tim Faulkner, who has his own pop-up cocktail concept called Up or Down and frequently provides the booze for Gato events. “We’re all professionals as well as friends,” says Savang. “I’m excited to see what our food has become since each of us started this pop-up thing at Gato.”

Seating will be staggered throughout the evening, and tickets are available here.

$79.99 for food, $20 for cocktail pairings. 5:30-9:30 p.m. Mon., Dec. 18. Gato, 1660 McLendon Ave. 404-371-0889. www.gatoatl.com.
