Backing from former candidates and ex-Mayor Shirley Franklin didn’t hurt

Pro-LGBT group Georgia Equality yesterday plugged its support for Councilwoman Mary Norwood’s bid for mayor.
The organization says the move came after the trillion-candidate discussions illuminated Norwood’s commitment to LGBT-related issues, such as her promise to create a cabinet-level LGBT liaison job at City Hall competitor and council colleague Keisha Lance Bottoms shares that same ambition, she said at a Tuesday forum.
Additionally, the outpouring of support from former mayoral candidates and ex-Mayor Shirley Franklin “All of whom are elected officials we have worked with closely in the past” didn’t hurt Norwood’s chances at securing Georgia Equality’s support.
