Quick Bites: Chef Sammy Davis debuts Milk & Honey, Donetto adds brunch, J.R. Cricket’s opens in North Decatur and more

COSA NOSTRA: Westside newbie Donetto adds a Sunday morning spread to their menu this weekend.

Looking for a new brunch spot? Meet Milk & Honey (5495 Cascade Rd. S.W.), an all-day breakfast spot just west of the perimeter. Chef Sammy Davis, winner of Food Network’s “Chopped Redemption’ serves up a menu that includes hearty favorites like rotisserie chicken, lobster gumbo and his award-winning shrimp and grits.

Speaking of brunch, Westside newcomer Donetto begins their own version of the classic Sunday spread this Sun, Oct. 22 from 12-5 p.m. with a variety of breakfast inspired dishes and mid-afternoon snacks. Their Tuscan “Cosa Nostra” (“our thing”) menu includes an omelet with caviar, mascarpone, and chives as well as a bomboloni with cinnamon sugar and caramelized whey.

You know we love wings, and we know you do, too. So listen up: A new J.R. Cricket’s location is open now in North Decatur at 1850 Lawrenceville Highway, ready to satisfy all your lemon pepper wet cravings.

Road trip, anyone? The team behind two-time James Beard nominated One Flew South, chef Duane Nutter and restaurateur Reggie Washington, opened their newest venture Southern National today in Mobile, Alabama. The menu features locally sourced seafood and craft cocktails. Atlanta-based Smith Hanes Design Studio designed the space.

To kick off their fourth anniversary, Reformation Brewery has a limited bottle release of just 500 Belgian Quadrupel Ales named in honor of the Protestant Reformation. The bourbon barrel aged beer will be available in the brewery’s keeping room on Tues., Oct. 31, while supplies last.
