East Atlanta Village is getting a new restaurant with a mighty fine pedigree in 2018. A team of former Ford Fry and Wrecking Bar employees that includes executive chef Nolan Wynn, general managerPeter Chvala, and bar managersKatie McDonald and Faielle Stocco plan to open their yet-to-be-named spot in the former My Sister’s Room space. ‘The idea is a to bring something new to East Atlanta while staying true to its culture,” said Wynn in a press release. Stocco added, “We’re keeping the drinks stiff and cheeky.”

Speaking of EAV, there’s a new Cuban spot on the scene. Zun Zun is now serving Cuban sandwiches, bowls, and smoothies in East Atlanta Village’s Global Grub Collective (477 Flat Shoals Ave. S.E.). Get ‘em while they’re hot!

Full Commission , a self-described ‘Southern fusion gastropub’ will soon begin its build-out after multiple construction delays. The spot is set to open this spring at Eastside’s Larkin development on Memorial, but you can catch a glimpse of what’s in store this Thurs., Dec. 21 at Petit Chou for a pop-up restaurant and specialty cocktails from 6-10 p.m.

Decorate those holiday cookies with something local. Beautiful Briny Sea has a new line of seasonal sprinkle mixes with names like Snow Day, Holly Jolly, Ginger Neutral, and Mazel Topper. The adorable jars are available from Williams-Sonoma stores and online.

Welcome back, old friend. Midcity Caf̩ has reopened at its old stomping grounds, 845 Spring St., in Midtown, replacing its own short-lived replacement, Grain. Midcity Caf̩ operated in the space for more than 10 years before closing in 2014. The new concept will serve sandwiches, cocktails, coffee, and more.

Another Flip Burger bites the dust. The Roswell Road location in Tuxedo Festival shuttered Mon., Dec. 18. In a statement on Facebook the restaurant said, “After graciously allowing us to serve the community for seven years, we have closed our Buckhead location. One outpost of the chain started by Richard Blais remains on Howell Mill Road.”

Sometimes eating a doughnut is good for your sugar tooth AND your soul. At Duck Donuts Buckhead (3655 Roswell Road) a portion of each day’s sales will benefit CURE Childhood Cancer through Dec. 23. CURE’s mission is to help eliminate childhood cancer through research funding and supporting patients and their families.

A third Blaze Pizza is set to open in forthcoming Fuqua development Northside and 17th at 1299 Northside Drive. It will join a Chipotle, Zaxby’s, McCalister’s Deli, and Dunkin’ Donuts. Blaze’s other locations are in Cumberland and Decatur.

Local chefs are taking their talents online with cooking videos.
