BBQ QUEEN: Memphis chef Melissa Cookston is just one of the many pitmasters you'll find at this weekend's festival.

Bring the whole family to Oakhurst’s Harmony Park this weekend for the 17th addition of this annual festival celebrating three of the South’s favorite pastimes: barbecue, beer and bluesy tunes. Sample food from local and regional pitmasters washed down with beers from New Belgium Brewing. Some vegetarian options will be available. All proceeds will support the Community Center of South Decatur via educational programs, community events and grants for local charities. Local and national blues and bluegrass bands will provide more than seven hours of entertainment on multiple stages, kids under 12 enter the festival free, and leashed pets are allowed. Parking is available but extremely limited, so take public transportation, walk or bike if possible!

$15. Sat., Aug. 12. 630 East Lake Drive and Harmony Park, Decatur. www.decaturbbqfestival.com.
